Indulging in the romantic idea of doing the thing oh so well. And in my mind I even get the rewards and accolades for doing it - instantly. All without actually doing any work. I've spent so much time just procrasturbating and fantasizing.
When creating these figments - our brains actually reward us - in that moment. Now our brain has had its imaginary reward and we've spent all our energy on creating a fantasy. Our hunger is temporarily satiated but there's been no nourishment.
Procrastibation is what you do when you're fantasizing about doing something and instead of just doing it, you spend time 'preparing' for it. Thinking about it. Watching videos about it. Buying accesories for it. Reading about it. over-optimising your 'set-up' or for it. It hardly matters what 'it' is - I can procrasturbate to it.
You see, procrasturbation is the devious, disguised cousin of procrastination. Sneaking into your mind under the guise of productivity. Whatever you're procrasturbating to right now feels like it'll make you efficient when you get around to doing it in real life. Which you absolutely will someday... Not right now. But you know... soon.
Here's the rub - procrasturbation feels good. But really - you're just screwing yourself.
